Valentine heart DIY

This Valentines, I have been inspired by so many
great ideas on Pinterest.
I had recently snapped some photos of a friend
for Valentines day and
in her photos I used a heart
that I had cut out from some poster board.
Using the heart that I had already cut out,
I thought about some things I had seen on
Pinterest and decided to throw together a vintage version.
I took old coffee filters I already had and started
crumpling them up then hot gluing them to the
poster board. Easy Peasy.
I was short about three filters, so I just took some white
tissue paper and crumpled that and stuck it on.
I am all about being crafty but I don't have a lot
of free time to spare so I do things on the fly.
Then I decided I wanted to tea stain it.
I made some tea and then put that in a spray bottle,
went outside and sprayed a light coat and then let the sun bake it.
I did that a few items to get it the color I wanted.
That's it.
I had all the items at home already and it took
no time at all to complete.
I hot glued some yarn to the back to I could
hang it up.

I think it is just the sweetest. I had made some paper bunting
and just draped that over it and there you go.
There are some amazingly creative bloggers
out there offering free Valentine printable's on Pinterest.

 Have a great Monday.
Would love for you to share what you are doing for Valentines day.

My slice~

My slice of heaven...it looks like this.
this is the place I come each morning.
and
it is the place I end each day,
giving thanks, for all that I have been given.
It is also the place where I sometimes cry out for more.
It  is the slice that I have been given.
The house that rests here is not perfect, it is not me.
It does not represent who I am in many ways.
But
The people in this house is what makes it my home
and
makes it all I could ever want it to be.
It isn't fancy,
it isn't new.
It is where conversations about
big things and little things take place.
Where dreams are shared.
and
fears are put to rest.
Where love is done right
and
parenting sometimes done wrong.
It is where mistakes are made.
Where wounds from a cold, world are healed.
Where we see the light at the end.
It is where some amazing memories have been made.
It has known the saddest of times
and
some delightful times as well.
It knows all the hurts, the aches, the ups and downs.
It knows my children's hearts.
It knows my heart.

Being the example....Being the change

(Our Sons)

Have you seen Ashley's blog "The Shine Project"?  I love it. She is always thinking of ways to help others, like how to send kids to college that otherwise could not afford to go. She is offering a challenge to us all to Be the Change.
My husband Nathan and I are Blessed to be the parents of a very active trio. Ethan is 13, Cameron is 12 and our precious girl is 10.  We are so aware how much they watch us.  Everything starts at home... Everything.  Our children learn to love, to be considerate, to serve, to embrace life, to try new things, to be full of Faith and not fear, and to be the change...in the home is where this starts.
As a family we try to do service projects when we are able.  From delivering meals to our next door neighbor, to walking and caring for the dogs and cats at the animal shelter, to donating toys to children that are in need, and participating in food drives and laundry for love.  My children are being taught what it means to BE The Change!
For me as a parent, I am most proud when I see my children interact with others.  This is where it begins. In how we treat others. I was not going to post, only because I have taught my children to be quiet servants...It isn't about getting the praise for doing something good for others, but the deed itself  is the gift for someone else, and the feeling it gives you, that is the gift you get in return.
God wants us to serve, to help others, to put others before ourselves....That is the point, to be Third.
God, Others, Me. I pray my children are lights in this world and will continue to serve as they grow and let others see God through them,  allow others to see the Change in them.
